Palantir is a software company that builds the world's leading software for data-driven operations and decision-making. More than 2500 Palantir employees work in offices around the globe, including in Denver, Palo Alto, Washington D.C., New York, London, Paris, Sydney, Tokyo, and Abu Dhabi.
Palantir was founded in 2004 by three software engineers and a philosopher to help intelligence agencies make better use of data while preserving privacy and civil liberties. Our first product was Palantir Gotham, a platform that helps users find bad actors hiding in complex networks, such as terrorist cells, trafficking rings, and money laundering schemes. Our early success in government led us to work with commercial companies, international governments, and nonprofits. In 2014, we introduced Palantir Foundry, a platform that brings organizations together around data to transform how they operate.
Today, we develop long-term partnerships with organizations, working together to help them realize the value in their data. Our partnerships power critical operations for defense and civilian government agencies worldwide and commercial companies in dozens of industries. We also donate our software and services to select nonprofits dedicated to improving human lives. To learn more, visit www.palantir.com.
Palantir Puzzlehunt began ten years ago when a group of employees who enjoyed puzzlehunts in college got together to create one. Meant to be an internal only event, the feedback was such that we decided to try it out at a few college campuses. Fast forward to now and Palantir Puzzlehunt has been run in over ten different cities and has had thousands of participants.
Run yearly during the summer as part of Intern Week, we then use the data from our internal run to further refine and tweak the puzzles for the even larger audience ahead. The bulk of the work is in the creation of the puzzles and it’s always rewarding to have more people enjoy them.
Unfortunately, world events precluded us from sharing the last Puzzlehunt with those outside of Palantir. But this year, for the first time, we created the hunt such that it could be run in a purely virtual manner. The internal run was a huge success with it spanning across the world as we kicked off in Australia, then London, followed by New York and then Palo Alto. Having started planning this hunt earlier this year, we hope to make it available to more people than ever before.
